History of CMA

P U R P O S E

The purpose of the CMA is to encourage Christian motorcyclists to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. We meet for rides, visiting Churches, going to bike events, having fun and getting together as mates in the Lord. Our slogan is Unity in Diversity - all makes of bikes being ridden by people from many different backgrounds.

 In 1979 a meeting took place in Sydney between representatives of two Christian motorcycle clubs, the Brotherhood and the Disciples and a number of lone riders. Their intention was to form an association of Christian riders which would enable them to be linked in fellowship no matter where they lived in the state. Since then the work has spread to every state in Australia and in 2000 it was moved at the annual National Run that the name Christian Motorcyclists Association of Australia be adopted. We are now a truly national association. In Australia each state forms a separate Chapter.

1979 was also saw the start of CMA in the UK. A letter in some of the national motorcycling magazines asked if anyone was interested in getting together with other Christians who were motorcyclists. In 1975 a magazine advertisement was the trigger for getting CMA off the ground in America.

Over the years CMA has become truly international with chapters in;

South Africa, Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Philippines, Australia, England and America.

The CMA is located in every state of Australia. To visit the various Chapter's web sites, click on the [CMA Links] link to the left.
